Do you think Byteball can compete with IOTA. IOTA has no fees and byteball it has. I think that only for this reason IOTA will always have a suggestion. In addition, the interest of large companies is also on the IOTA side.
The only solution I see is to market the product towards a different costumer segment than iota's. Let's take some 'settlement coins' as an example: Ripple targets banks, while Stellar tries to work with private companies like IBM. NEM has a problem similar to Byteball's in the sense that it lacks a unique market (although they are very intersting from a tech standpoint). They do not really compete, granting all three the success they now have.
