NEM can do what IOTA can do (but in another way). Connect hundreds of thousands devices (IOT) and let them communicate. All you need is a private chain. The private chain can interact with the public chain (if needed). In this way you can also handle thousands of transactions per second, like IOTA can do.
For me as an investor this is/was very interesting news because i think the internet of things is one of the most promising future developments. NEM can compete in this area! I also found this project (ioNEM, https://blog.nem.io/ionem/)

Minus the buggy wallet, losing your balance, having to deal with "I am very smart" developers (you've seen their attitude towards newbies and others), having to be ignored by their support, manipulation tactics, getting your balance locked away, centralization and one person decides the faith of your coins, developer's hired troll farm to pump their coin, unsupported claims to nonexistant tech (quantum resistant
).You get the idea, NEM was created in reality not in some fantasy land.
