because before the pokemon there was one game with exactly the same gameplay and and few people were interested in it. that's why it seems to me that if it were not the Pokemon, then IZX app would not receive attention.
Being able to find something intangible in the real world would always cause a wave of interest to arise, with or without Pokemon as it's predecessor.
