Hey, is not a coin yet <3. Is a service. IOTA is defined by transaction speed and 0 fees . I hope it will become a coin in the near future. If i'm wrong correct me please.
And yeah, you have to trust.
Example:  I was a fool because i didnt invest in Ethereum last year and Bitcoin. But i love the system, because you cant be smart if you are not a fool first.

Think at IOTA like Ethereum last year when it was 7USD.
