Guys, when this new exchange is finally up and tested we can then have our coinage off of counterparty forever. Make it so, devs! Then I want to see what this ANX Int'l has in store for heavy growth PR.
Finger crossed. It can be a catch22, The Ethereum token economy is huge and it's much easier for exchanges to add an Ethereum token than a separate blockchain.
In fact the irony is that ANX who specialise in creating customised blockchains have a project you can invest in, OpenANX (OAX)... but guess what... it's an Ethereum token like everyone else

Even EOS which will be a direct competitor to ETH is tradeable as an ETH token
EOS could have created a tradeable token on BTS which does 100x more volume than Counterparty DEX btw (Daniel Larimer, created BTS & EOS) but he knew the market and value of EOS would be massively higher if tradeable as an ETH Token.
Even if you're creating your own blockchain it still makes a lot of sense to have your main token tradeable on Ethereum.
Sounds like all the more reason why we'll probably never see XFC traded anywhere but on the DigitalTokens exchange. Well, assuming the exchange eventually gets here. I'm certainly not convinced so far.
