Start wallet, open debug console, then type "setgenerate true x", where x = number of cores you want to allocate for mining.

i tried this and it just crashed the whole wallet Cheesy

usually i use avx2 for CPU mining,so i downloaded that version, but idk, maybe ill have to try the other wallet lol

Try the non avx2 version, that seems to work ok. avx2 version kept crashing when I first tried it.
