I think Awesomeminer or MPM try and do this algo switching within the software so they should (probably) be set up with the specific Algo ports in their config not the multi-algo ports.  Only use the multi-algo ports if you WANT the POOL to decide which algo to mine as any connections to the non-optimal algo will be closed.....
