I think you should split your balance for 3-5 potetial altcoins like Neo, Qtum, Coindash, Monero, Ripple, Stella... Also you should have 1/5 your balance to hold bitcoin or ethereum. I know you have only 500$ but that is still big amount to start, choose wise and you will get payoff soon.
