My friend sent ETH an hour ago and hasn't received BDG token even after adding custom token to MEW.

Could the problem be that he sent ETH during step 1 and went to step 2 to fill out the profile later after already sending ETH?

EDIT: Actually it seems he somehow sent to an address ending with ...f74 and not the correct one ending with ...159, so that's explains it
