Hi guys.
Building my first mining rig.
As u guys know RAM ddr4 is expensive these days.

Can I mine using ddr3 or ddr2 which is so much cheaper.
Also most ppl tell me 4GB is enough.
Do u guys recommend 2x2GB or 1x4GB sticks?

Will be using 3x Vega 64 for mining. Adding more GPUs later.
Using Asus Prime H270+ CSM motherboard.

Thanks

That motherboard is compatible with DDR4 RAM, NOT DDR3 nor DDR2. If you want to keep that motherboard, you are stuck with DDR4 RAM.

DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 won't make a significant difference for mining (although the setup & boot process would likely be slower on DDR2). Back in 2012, I used an ASROCK n68s-UCC (uses DDR2 RAM) for mining with 2 cards, and it worked fine.

However, the number of appropriate motherboards for dedicated mining rigs shrinks as you look at DDR2-compatible motherboards. DDR3 is still relevant.

To be frank, the cost difference between DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 RAM isn't enough to dictate so much about your build. If you already have a usable motherboard, stick with it.

As far as the memory configuration goes, 1x 4GB should be fine. (Obtaining 2GB sticks of DDR4 RAM isn't that easy.)
