IOTA may be the next big thing in the year 2018 but it has a potential of being a disappointment for 2018.
Its tangle technology is good for theory but it is brand new, moreover it is not tested comparing blockchain and it does not still have a working wallet.
It can increase huge but it has a high risk also
It will be the next big thing. Every crytopgrapher analysis I've read agrees. Tangle theory isn't that new and things are moving fast as it's been worked on all the time, for example they just released a new version of their wallet on github a few hours ago:
