It depends on the price of Bitcoin. The growth of BTC in US$ is in the long term larger then the growth of altcoins. In some particular month, or part of the year, any altcoin, XLM included, can jump in relation to BTC, but in the longterm the US$ value is only determined by the US$ value of BTC.
