There would be always KYC policy on any exchange when it comes when you are already trading up thousands of dollars on daily basis which is normal since these exchanges do follow regulations which they would really need to impose it strictly but on the case of OP why they would ask such thing? $40 isn't really a big deal. If you do hesitate on giving documents then we can anytime make an another account which doesn't need to verify since the restrictions or limits of non-verified isn't really bad after all specially on small-traders.
