Why choose one over the other?  Why even limit yourself to those 2 options?  Each coin has distinct advantages and disadvantages.  The best bet is to diversify... Add Dash and Ethereum and whatever else.  If your budget is small, which it sounds like it might be, you may want to wait on bitcoin because the transaction fee is currently close to $30 or so.
