Hi all,
Just thought I'd start a thread on how not to get your bitcoin stolen and do this by learning from others. It's all on our minds is our coins secure but we can do simple things to ensure they stay safe. So any suggestions and stories on how yours got stolen would be great. Sorry if it brings up bad memories. Many thanks for your time. Lex
Based on my own experience, I am fortunate enough not to have lost any Bitcoin due to any involuntary means of a grab or very deceptive means. I lost Bitcoin because I trusted some cryptocurrency traders whom I trusted too much and all of them turned out to be either scammers or just an outright failure. I also lost some Bitcoin while participating in the rev-share type of programs similar to MyPayingAds and its sister crypto program. Had i not touched my Bitcoin at that time and never invested into those traders and programs I could already be a multi-millionaire (based on my local standards and not internationally). Unfortunately, I experienced for two times the popular phishing scam with my MEW accounts. It is very sad that MyEtherWallet don't want to improve their own security measures and just left members on their own's fault whenever a phishing program can struck anyone. The second one just recently happened partly because I became careless in downloading a wallet from as supposed coin which turned out to be a phishing trap.
