I would deff recommend using the snapshot, as if you dont ... you can DL the blockchain for days 
I would assume there are some wallets lost ... Which should be a good thing. Was also keeping track on the rich list and there are so many wallets that have not been used for over 1/2+ years.
Some might dump, some might stake, not sure. However with the current price its okay for them to dump. We need people that like the coin and see a future for it.
I do believe that a coin that survived that long and is still working perfectly and has many features that most of today's coins dont have, has a real chance.
Just check all the scam coins that are coming out with nothing.
Yeah some might have lost wallets, some had been robbed by mintpal and cryptsy which means much less supply than been stated as total.
Exactly surviving that long means a lot proving itself.
