you're looking to destabilize a behemoth with unlimited funding, just small incentives aren't going to attract potential users. it has to make people who try it say "WOW" and brag about it to friends. word of mouth is best publicity
by the time the product is past ICO and ready to hit exchanges, make sure you watch reviews on youtube channels like Datadash and Boxmining and look at what they look at in a project (whitepaper, team, presentation, active on github) so that they can put a word out
They get the faith and the people to believe in this project and then the whales follow
