Is the Sapphire card working in the top slot now that you've got fresh drivers installed?
If it is working in the top slot I'd say throw the XFX into the bottom slot with CF OFF and no CF bridge connecting them. You don't have to use it or stress it, I just wonder what it will look like now since previously you said "when I tried it in the bottom slot windows acted as if I had no drivers"
If it is recognized correctly I'd then probably consider seeing if it can hash. You certainly don't have to and I fully understand the worries about trashing your HDD from all these hard power cycles but like I said I like to tinker
Even if you want to sell the XFX card I think you should test it solo to see if the temps have leveled out at all. If only so you can have full disclosure during the sale/trade. Good luck!
