With $3000 to invest, is there any advantages to either, with the expectations/hopes that they both will continue to grow? Just trying to see what others would do, as I plan to let this initial investment sit for 5yrs minimum in a cold wallet.

In my opinion, it is better if you choose bitcoin to invest in the big part of your money. And also, I think ethereum is the best altcoin and it is a big possibility that seeing its price better and better in the future. In my way of thinking, dividing the money to invest would be the best choice.
What words everyone says and virtually every bitcointalk user believes that the etherium and Bitcoin are more promising, but at the same time they are considering alternative options to minimize their risks.
