Possibly because it is a CPU mining coin, and early miners or noobs don't have the equipment to mine already well known coins. So they believe the coin they can mine will be a big thing. I guess that is the reason
Or maybe the reason is that this Algo prevents asic and gpu miners to mine this coin due to lower hashrates it give you. This is a unique algo. And with a very strong and supportive community.  Wink

I wish we could know what the plans are for the coin over and above being a unique mining algorithm and being able to sell it on an exchange.
