Coinbase is one of the most user friendly exchange to buy crypto, but it does have some high fees and only offers four coins currently. If you interested in alt coins you should check out bittrex, binance, or poloniex because they offer a large number of coins.

Personally I prefer GDAX which is a owned by the same company as coin base, and they offer no fees for buying, selling or transferring.
