If we take into account that bitcoin grew more than 1300% last year, a growth to $40,000 would be perfectly possible since it would only mean an increase of 300% on an annual basis and, in fact, maybe a growth of this magnitude would be a clear signal of a potential slowdown in the bitcoin growth, which will not be a bad thing as it significantly would reduce the high volatility that characterized it throughout 2017.
