The reason why not is firstly because there isn't a need to fork to have the coin. We already have the coin, and a forked coin is not supported by the major holders and supporters of FUNK. There are no nodes, miners, developers or infrastructure for a forked coin. The resources and focus is on the new token, and not on another scrypt algo token.

Another user 'crunck' (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=469407.msg17860141#msg17860141 and make sure to see their trust rating) tried to hijack development of the coin earlier last year, and had caused major disruptions by trying to fork the coin without the support of the network. It caused people to lose coins to blocks that became orphaned due to people using his wallet.

We have learned from the mistakes of the past, and will not repeat them again.
