Yes, PoSToken has compounding interest. The 17 tokens you minted will also generate interest. Remember you have to spend gas whenever you send an instruction to the smart contract. The benefit of minting at the earliest opportunity is counteracted by the cost of gas.

how many days before it will mint? does it take months? or you need to open your MEW 24/7?

It is staking automatically but you have to manually initiate mint every 3-90 days to receive your due PoS in your wallet. You have to open MEW only at that moment for few minutes to initiate the mint (interact with the smart contract). You can do that easiest by sending 0 PoS to yourself with gas set as per recommendation from ethgasstation.
