I've heard it from a friend. I've seen bitcoin somewhere being mentioned and later he reminded me of bitcoin while we chatted and that's when he got me into the whole bitcoin talk. 
We are just the same about your stories. But at the first place i am doubted with it. if this is real or not. And few days after that time we talk again and catch my attention in bitcoin on that time i hear about bitcoin.
