We have been having a lot of problems with the servers over the past few days... If this is the new norm, I'm gonna have to point my miners elsewhere permanently 
I was having trouble connecting until I used the old getwork url and let cgminger/guiminer handle the redirect to the stratum server.

you could save yourself time trying to find tricks to get to a different IP by making it your choice which IP to connect too, there are only 3 allowed right now. It isnt rocket science, if you can type stratum.bitcoin.cz you can type 54.225.117.74 or 54.215.3.101 or 95.211.52.40. It is easy to lead a horse to water pointing this out but u cant make the person understand the simple concept of it.
