I think this really depends on your hardware and how good the wifi connection is. If you have a stable and strong wifi connection I think there should not be a problem, because normaly the wifi connection is much faster then the internet connection. If your rig is far away from your router it will be better to use a cabled connection even if the cable is 40m long

And be carefull with these wifi-usb-sticks. It seams for me, that nowadays a lot of sticks out there are really crappy and often loose connection to the router, it is hard to find some really good ones. Same with some router brands, I bought a lot of new and different models the last year and these didn't worked well. So I switched back to the good old wrt54(gl) with openwrt and ddwrt on them and didn't have any problem

But of course if you can easily connect a cable from your router to your rig, choose the cable not the wifi!
