Much as I hate to say this, but I think someone is trying to cause this coin to fail.  At 8:28am local time I stopped receive block rewards until 09:29 where they heppily resumed until 09:48.  Nothing at all while my miner showed share after share being submitted until 11:06am where 24 blocks in a row get solved, 12 of them apparently by me (3+ GAS reward each).  At 11:30 everything seems to be back to normal (but for how long?)
