And what if when they test the chips it turns out to be well over estimates?
Well obviously the whole exercise was for naught if they pull a BFL on that score.

But of course, BFL did something so silly where they apparently failed to do optical proximity correction, and this is, apparently, why their power drain doubled.

I'll bet that had Yifu laughing for days and days.

I don't expect Orsoc to pull such a rookie move.

Surely, Golbalfoundries should have picked up on that and told BFL before production of the wafers began?
I heard it was something wrong with a metal layer. If so the next batch of BFL should be more power efficient.

It just goes to show that the unforeseen is waiting to happen. That's why I wouldn't even dream about buying a PSU before actual measurements from a working prototype were published!

I am even more conservative than that, and wont be placing an order with KNCminer before the prototype is demonstrated. I don't believe in this rush out before the diff rate increases BS, if they haven't got a long term viable ROI product, then I will wait until someone has. There are years of BTC mining ahead not just months.
