Ethereum increase its demand because it has faster and cheaper transaction fee compared to bitcoin. Other cryptocurrency enthusiast switch it for daily use while bitcoin is now use as a precious one like gold that store value to its Blockchain.
Well its been overtaken by ripple as the runner up to btc since last part of december but i also believe in eth and that it will be the futire of crypto, unlike xrp that goes somewhat against crpyto's decentralized nature. Etherium will have its time this year i'm pretty sure of that
