I dont see kitties going anywhere as they are in oversupply (up for 4billion possible to be bred)
even with that successful marketing campaign and the hype the prices for kitties have dropped. Personally invested 0.2ETH to get a feel of the game, bought two kitties, and bred two more. all good but no demand and the prices are sale.
The concept of limited demand i think would drive the prices up much more likely
