I think this year will be better than 2017 for the top tier of cryptocurrencies.  There seems to be more awareness of the potential of blockchain-based coins and the fat protocol/thin app-stack model now compared to only 1 year ago.  Just one year ago, I would hear so many people dismiss blockchain or bitcoin as a fad curiosity with no future.  I've noticed a lot more mainstream interest and discussion of viability of blockchain in the last year and especially the last 6 months.  We should see a major shift in perception this year.
