It can be a great coin again but it all starts with a flawless wallet,... and wallets are a major issue in the crypto industry,.. i lost over 350k in earthcoin because of corrupt wallets and exchanges
If you still have your old wallet.dat file you shouldnt have any issues getting your coin back. Corruption is an OS issue not a wallet issue. The blockchain will keep verifying your addresss transactions.
Dig up that corrupt wallet and copy the wallet.dat file. Back up your current wallet, and then paste the old one in it's place. Most times it will recover everything. If not, there are some forensic tricks you can use.
One of them is to start the client with the -repairwallet flag, which usually works. If it does, then you're golden.
