I am new to the bitcointalk and the blockchain in general, but I have been reading up and think it is the future.  I have missed the boat on getting in at the basement, but wanted to invest some money LONG term in some crypto.  From what I understand Bitcoin is having some trouble keeping up with transactions.  Would Ether or Bitcoin be a better long term investment (10 years), or will something new come along and replace these coins?

In the market trend today you can see the ups and down of values in those top 3 coins. Having seen the dip in btc today would be a good signal that it is a good
opportunity for you to jump in into BTC market. BTC market price would be expected to bounce back in this few weeks until January will end.
No matter what the value of bitcoin right now, I would still choose it, yes it is now fluctuating, but it will recover soon, for the past years bitcoin is really up and down, but still the price now is still much higher compare to other years that passed. Eth is just my second option when I have extra money to buy but  not priority.
Ethereum is no match for bitcoin. Bitcoin has fallen before so it is not a very big deal if past is repeating itself. When we call something to be digital currency, the first word that appears in terms of investment is fluctuation.

It means that the value of the asset will change, increases as well as decrease. Investing in ETH is quite a god thing as that can also give profits but bitcoin should be the top priority as an investment.
