A lot of projects attempted to at least attain even half of the popularity of
BTC, but, they failed.
And few months from now, visit this thread and more than likely the project that the OP was talking about is already dead.
Bitcoin is bitcoin and no matter how hard those new altcoins try to defeat bitcoin, they will not be able to. This coin had already established its name and as the most popular crypto which many people are interested in investing to, no altcoin would ever be able to beat that. Bitcoin continue to rise and as soon as early 2018 come, there will be more demand for bitcoin. Bitcoin will remain on the top so instead of trying to beat bitcoin with a new altcoin why not just invest in it?
I agree with everything you said about the reputation that the bitcoin has already established up to this day. But I guess the statement that the new altcoin might beat bitcoin someday isn't completely a non-sense. Just as we know cryptocurrencies are very volatile which means they are very prone to instant changes, either negative and positive. What's good is that now, I can say that bitcoin is still in good shape. More importantly, be skeptical in investing on these cryptocurrencies.
