I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.
How can we be sure about this system not being abused? User could just create a private/open group of users here outside the forum lets say 500-1000 e.g. telegram, FB etc. to boost others account to have merits. Even in local boards which most DT`s doenst really understand whats going on in that section?
theymos will make a 'merit' page to see on how often members are giving merit to other one. And people who are giving merits to others are transparent and can be seen so there will be an obvious if "guy one" send merit to "guy two" most of the time. But this will be hard to determine on who are those people doing this thing all of the sudden, looking at their post one by one.For now let's adopt this system and it's better to give credit to the valuable posts that contributes to the forum's greatness.
