I would rather educate the people about the inherent technology of Bitcoin instead of giving them Bitcoin directly, they won't know how to use it anywhere, and Bitcoin simply can't buy him a cup of coffee. I'd do the same. It will be more helpful to give instant cash or whatever you think will be of immediate help to the needy. So much can be given such as cash, medical assistance or educational assistance. And if you really intend to donate bitcoin, its gonna be a bigger help to explain what bitcoin is as a virtual currency and provide them knowledge on how they can maximize the benefit of having a bitcoin.
