When i checked yesterday it said 4 blocks found- today it only says 3.... Is there something fishy going on here? Ive been working for 2 days and no payouts.

Nothing fish at all. Please, understand one thing. BitcoinZ has a total supply of 21.000.000 coins. But not all those coins are circulating in the market, right? Where does they come from? Answer is: From the new blocks, which are generated by the miners. Miners like you keep the network alive and health. The system works because of you.
So, when a block is found, 12500 coins are generated (and it will be like this for the next 3.5 years, when the first halving will happen for BTCZ).
Since or pool is beginning operation, we have few miners, and we find one block each two-three days. We need more mining power to get blocks faster.
But anyway, you are going to be payed just when a block is found. Suppose there where 3 blocks found when you joined. Then, you will be contributing to mine the block number 4 (this is the fourth mining round). When block-4 is found, you will receive a fraction of those 12500 generated coins. This fraction is calculated based on the number of valid-shares you produced.
So, if you contributed to round number four, you might have received you share.
