Many of those newbies are alt accounts of people with interest of creating FUD about bitcoin. As far as we know it can be alt accounts from people who have shortned bitcoin

I think Alts on Bitcointalk will have a marginal impact on BTC, I can't see it being a huge driver of influence. There are a lot of newcomers slamming Bitcoin because they parted with fiat to get into some ponzi like BitConnect. I would say Bitconnect had a huge impact on the market.
