Very good question! The major difference, is that XRP intends to replace the normal means in which banks send funds. Hydro's goal is to take the current systems and make them more transparent and friendly to everyday users. Our main focus is more for financial applications than banks themselves. We believe that even if XRP is adopted, Hydro would be able to work alongside it nicely.
