Everything to do with the Bitcoin futures markets that opened in Dec 2017. Contracts are settling about now, would think between once settled and the next futures contracts in Feb 2018, will see BTC gains. A time for whales and hodlers as weak hands are shaken about.
Absolutely agree. Most people don't realize that Bitcoin futures mean that traders can now go short Bitcoin. That means they can essentially buy -1 Bitcoin and make money when it goes down.
That has resulted in an entirely new dynamic in the market place. Previously, the only way to push the price down was to sell Bitcoin that you had already bought earlier. But now, traders can sell Bitcoin
that they never even bought before.
