There could be that possibility, however, having seen the article, I think that it is not Facebook's intention to totally ban ads pertaining to the cryptocurrency market. I think what they are trying to control are the unwanted and flooding content that populate the system, and upon appraisal, some advertisers also post useless content that doesn't even amount to an advertisement if you would look closely at it. Also, I think that facebook is exploiting that many advertisers are using their platform as a means to market products because they get income from that too. Thus, why would they ban something that is of value. Having said, I think twitter would gauge the positive stuff it bring before having those drastic measures implemented.
