it is possible, all could happen but for the possibility of ethereum beating the bitcoin price this year it seems still heavy for ethereum. the price of bitcoin when it goes down is only in because of news issues only. such as blocking bitcoin in some countries such as china and south korea and then news of the American departments sent mail to calling the management of some exchangers to meet.
While I won't believe it will beat it's price, I do believe that it will prove to be a quite worthy rival. ETH with it's smart contracts concept really proved to be a much reliable and faster way (at least a little bit more transactions per second) than BTC. While BTC will always remain the "gold" of crypto, ETH has quite a future ahead of it
