I usually delele all files from the solaris folder except for wallet.dat and solaris.conf. Then I copied the new solaris.qt in started it and I made sure that the path was the same as before, wallet.dat folder.
I use the same folder for all wallet files for each coin I ever mined so it is extremely easy to find them after for example reinstalling windows which happened to me after a major PC upgrade. I mean each coin has its own folder with all wallet files, I don't use the original suggested path to appdata folder.
