I don't think this is resolved yet. They just avoid the situation which is out of their control.
They can say sorry that this happened in public and compensate for it. But instead, they mislead & ignore.
That is the tactic of most large businesses that are dealing with a large number of common folks. They'll avoid and avoid till the last moment to try and get away with whatever they have screwed up. Out of sight, out of mind. I think that's exactly what's going to happen to this situation as well. Most probably this issue will be ignored to the point where no one would care anymore. (except OP maybe).
