To compile the wallet on a Linux you will need at least 2GB or have a page file up to 2GB.
The Masternode itself can be hosted on a Raspberry Pi.

You can. But not recommended. You can setup the masternode on a VPS and hold the coins on the local wallet on Windows. Also you will receive the rewards on the local wallet on Windows. No need to keep it up 24/7 because the VPS will run the masternode.
