I am not entirely sure that will be the solution. As far as I can see there was one block mined at 29.9M difficulty, yet there was no retarget happening. I think this needs a fix in the software.
What's worse than the problem itself is the deafening silence of nzdude concerning the issue. A simple "looking into it" would be nice at this point.
