I would love to see a feature where people in their regions could organize and raise funds to build a sports team in order to participate in competitive leagues

That is indeed a nice idea and it could help sports thrive massively in all kinds of different areas. Possessing a small part of a sports team and having a vote is a whole new level of involvement. Extremely exciting!
