Most of the alt coins are indeed actually $1 right now. So you should consider investing as much as you can before the price starts to bounce back up. You could try investing on Stellar Lumen (XLM), TRON (TRX) and Ripple (XRP). You can dump your XRP once you have reached your profit margin.
Actually, when Altcoin just appeared in the market, usually their price is still small and less than 1 satoshi. And at times like Altcoin can be used by buying some of them to taste, then wait for a while. Usually Altcoin prices like that will increase sooner or later.
