It's cool to see so many opinions on this gathered here. But the question is a but misshaped, I think. It's not that people hate Islam, but the examples of muslims violating human rights (to say it mildly) *in the name of their religion* are numerous
From what I have noticed, the Muslims are a hypocritical bunch. They always cry about Islamophobia, when faced with the slightest harassment in the western nations. But they always remain silent, when asked about the inhuman atrocities committed by Muslims against minority Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and Atheists in Islamic nations.
